Dear Reader Before you dive into the multiple genres with a judgmental eye, please understand where I come from. I was born in Orange County and lived here my entire life. The only time I ever left California was when I visited New York last year for less than a week. That was easily one of the most amazing trips of my life and I have had a desire to travel long before that. The first genre I wrote was the green light one pager, which reflects these desires. From that, I chose my American and divided our lives into three chunks: the places we go, the choices we make, and the regrets we have.
Somehow, I needed to blend it all together. Ultimately, I chose to go with the overarching theme of the hero's journey. Personally, I really like the idea of the hero's journey, which is why I went with it. I then changed my chunks to fit into the different parts of the hero's journey, although the chunks were not exactly the best fits. In a way, the process of writing the multigenre follows the path of the hero's journey. It started with the departure, when I started working on it. Then, I had to cross the threshold and go from the known into the unknown. Since I did not have a clear vision of what the final project would look like, I was blind when writing the first few genres. Next, I went through initiation, when I was tested by procrastination. Afterwards, I gained a realization that maybe next time I should stay on top of my homework. Finally, I learned from the multigenre about myself and what my opinion of the American Dream is and how I plan to achieve it. Thank you for reading my project. Timmy Ro |
